The new Bernina 830

That would be the perfect gift for christmas.....hmmmm!
But it is only available in march 2009 and...very expensive!
But PERFECT!
It has a lot of space so it can be used as midarm quilting machine on a special frame.
When you like it...and are married to Donald Trump or Bill Gastes :-) here you can find some informations.
For my part, I'm going to bed and will certainly dream from Switzerland and Bernina! :-)
Good night!

Measuring tape.....

a new measuring tape cloth
The idea for this flower is from this site, she made a pincushion of it.
The flower is the same but the rest is a little different from the pincushion.
Perhaps it would be a good idea to make both?...the pincushion and the mesasuring tape? :-)

.............
Posted by Picasa

that's all you need...
-measuring tape
- a cardboard circle 2" diametre
- cut 9 circles without SA for the petals (SA= seam allowance)
- cut one circle with SA for the top
- cut one circle with SA for the bottom
cut one stripe 6 3/4" X 7/8" for the side
- cut two circles without SA of batting
- cut one stripe of batting the size of your measuring tape (side)
Posted by Picasa

with the wonder under on the fabric it's easy to fuse the fabric SA on the batting..
Posted by Picasa

I sewed a stripe of wonder under on the fabric stripe to hold the batting...
Posted by Picasa

iron the nine little circles in half , than in half again to form the petals...
Posted by Picasa

baste the bottom circle around the cardboard and iron....
Posted by Picasa

.........
Posted by Picasa

baste the petals together....
Posted by Picasa

...and form a circle a little bit smaller than the diametre of the top fabric.
Posted by Picasa

baste also the top fabric around the cardboard...
Posted by Picasa

don't close the side fabric to a ring, the small slot is needed to sort the tape....
Posted by Picasa

hand sew the stripe to the bottom circle...
Posted by Picasa

put the tape inside and secure it like above to the fabric....
Posted by Picasa

baste the top fabric to the petals and hand sew it in place...
Posted by Picasa

hand sew the top to the tape.....
Posted by Picasa

........
Posted by Picasa

cut s small strip of fabric for the flower stem...
Posted by Picasa

close the seams and sew it on the end of the tape......

isn't that a cute gift for a quilting friend? :-)

As I told you in october there is an online quilt contest at AQS.
From november 03 on you can vote for your favourite quilt .
Here you can see all the entries and vote. There are really beautiful quilts!

I think that the quilt I entered in this contest has no chance with all this pieces of art.
:-) My favourite is the Red Lily.
