Birth of a tree...quilt

In may is a great international quiltfestival here in Luxembourg.
There will be a contest and the theme is: tree.
So, this will be my quilt for this contest.....

sewing the tree shape on the background fabric, with the backing (Thermolan) fused to the quilt, so it will be quilted in the same time...

I printed this photo on fabric and I'm trying now to embroider it by machine....
I have the intention to sew it onto the tree quilt, but will decide it when the tree quilt is finished...

Baking-day

Today I had to bake..... This special little balls are called here: Nonnefäscht...
I don't know if I really would like to translate this..... hmm...
Nonnen are called nuns in engl. but Fäscht....is the noise people make when they have to much gases in the rectum...so the name is not really an appetizer.... :-)
But this little balls are delicious.
Here is my recipe:
100 g sugar
350 g flour
50 g butter
4 eggs
3 table spoon milk
250 g fresh cheese (Quark)
(don't know if that exist in USA, here is the explanation I found on Wikipedia:)

1 pkg baking-powder (for 500g flour)

Mix all the ingredients. Heat 1-2 l oil.
With a teaspoon form little balls and deep-fry them for 3-4 minutes.

Andy Goldsworthy

Size: 12 X 12"
That's my latest "quilt". It is fused to a stretched canvas. A few days ago Melody Johnson had a tutorial on her blog with this new idea. When you go to her homepage you will find a quilt "Goldworthy-like".
So, I like her quilts, I like this new idea and I like Andy Goldsworthy's work: This is my result. :-)
I learned about Andy Goldsworthy over ten years ago in a workshop with Michael James, a well-known quilt-artist.
I was fascinated by Andy Goldsworthy's sculptures.

I think the pictures below don't need any comment. Thank you to Melody Johnson for this new idea and the workshop. (scroll down the page until January 4th)
