Wasserlösliches Garn bei Trapunto....

Heidi hat mich gefragt wieso ich wasserlösliches Garn verwende. Das Garn nehme ich bei dem ersten dickeren Vlies, das nachher die Trapunto-Wirkung macht.... nach dem Nähen wird das Vlies bis zur Naht weggeschnitten, dann kommt das normale Vlies und die Rückseite drauf.
Das Trapunto-Muster muss ja auch gequiltet werden, d.h. Vorderseite, Rückseite und Vlies miteinander verbinden, also muss ich nochmal über das Trapunto-Muster quilten, und da ich sonst eine doppelte Naht hätte, die erste und die vom Quilten, nehm ich bei der ersten wasserlösliches Garn, das dann nachher beim Waschen verschwindet, der Unterfaden von der ersten Naht bleibt unsichtbar zwischen den Lagen. Ich hoffe ich hab mich deutlich ausgedrückt und du stehst nicht mehr auf dem Schlauch, Heidi? :-))

Trapunto

I finished the little trapunto quilt today

For the moment the quilt is in the washer to remove the water-soluble thread from the first sewing and the marks of the water-erasable pencil.

I will post a picture tomorrow when it is dry....

Trapunto by machine, the second :-)

all the batting around the trapunto design is cut away as close as possible to the sewing line....

I decided to add some more flowers on the top and bottom of the quilt to have a rectangulaire design....

batting and backing are added to the top....

the lines are quilted with a normal cotton thread...

I have to fill the spaces beetween the trapunto with stippling...

It's still a lot of stippling to do....perhaps tomorrow! :-)

Trapunto by machine

Today I found a lovely design in a quilt-book, I copied it 4 X and taped it together to make a trapunto by machine....

I copied the design on a piece of white fabric (light-table)...

a very thick bating.....

a water-soluble thread.....

and the sewing can begin......

finished.....
now I have to cut the batting where I don't want to have it.. :-)
I will do this this evening and promise to take pics.... so, don't miss the continuation tomorrow!
